Our mission at GATHER is to share our passion for using traditional techniques to create contemporary textiles. We aim to bring people together to exchange ideas, learn from one another, and celebrate making things with our hands. We invite you to use your own creative ideas to make textiles with us from thread to cloth to garment.
Angela Kelly is an expert sewist specializing in contemporary garments. She graduated from the Art Institute of Vancouver in Fashion Design & Marketing and has been teaching in Edmonton for 10 years. Angela is passionate about using traditional sewing techniques in new and exciting ways. When she isn’t sewing, Angela is likely doing embroidery, punch needle, weaving or dreaming up her next project.
Kim McCollum is a visual artist working in textiles. Kim has been teaching weaving classes for 6 years, specializing in contemporary artistic approaches. Her love of textiles has taken her to India, Morocco, and throughout Canada and the United States. Kim works part time as an occupational therapist and is currently in the second year of her Masters of Fine Arts and the University of Alberta.
