Often called the world's most precious fibre, and renowned for its unparalleled warmth and softness, qiviut is the downy winter undercoat of Arctic muskoxen. Come meet Tanis Simpson of Qiviut Inc., a 100% Inuit-owned qiviut fibre mill--and get to know this amazing fibre for yourself! Together, we will experience the process of combing qiviut out of hides from muskoxen hunted sustainably for food near the Inuvialuit communities of Ulukhaktok and Sachs Harbour, NWT. Participants will take home 6 grams of raw qiviut--useful for insulating mitts/boots or in any of your fibre projects!
