About this Workshop: 

Work with knit fabrics and learn to make your own undergarment set! This project-based workshop will take you through the process of making your own undergarment set from start to finish. In the morning we will do body measurements and develop undergarment patterns from pattern blocks, pin and cut fabric and do some practice stitching. After a lunch break we will sew up an underwear set. 

We will be covering the following techniques:

  • Basic operations of our sewing machines & serger
  • Best practices for knit fabrics
  • How to measure your body 
  • How to develop undergarment patterns from pattern blocks to fit your body 
  • Best practices to pin & cut fabric 
  • The sewing sequence of undergarment construction 
  • How to press and finish off your project

Workshop Materials & Equipment: 

All supplies are included:

  • Domestic sewing machines and an industrial serger are used for this workshop
  • A variety of bamboo knit fabrics 
  • Instructional Booklet 
  • Pattern blocks 
  • Rulers & french curves 
  • Pattern paper
  • Measuring tape 
  • Pins

About the Instructor:

Angela Kelly is a co-owner of Gather Textiles and an expert sewist specializing in contemporary garments.  She graduated from the Art Institute of Vancouver in Fashion Design & Marketing and has been teaching in Edmonton for 10 years.  Angela is passionate about using traditional sewing techniques in new and exciting ways.  When she isn’t sewing, Angela is likely doing embroidery, punch needle, weaving or dreaming up her next project.

We are not able to refund workshops. We are able to provide a store credit for workshops cancelled with 72 hrs notice. We are not able to provide a refund or store credit for cancellations with less than 72 hrs notice, even for participants who are feeling unwell. Thank you for your understanding.
