This 100% silk noil and has an earthy, organic feel and look. Silk noil is perfect for garment makers. Often, silk is thought of as formal, expensive, high-maintenance, and challenging to sew. However, this is not the case with silk noil! Due to its thicker and stable matte texture, it is easy to cut and sew. Against the skin, it feels light, soft, and cool in the summer but warm in the winter. It also resists wrinkles, which is a big plus.

  • Subtle irregularities of the silk make this yarn particularly luxurious to work with
  • Perfect for garments or accessories that sit next to the skin
  • 100% natural fiber

Dyed in our Edmonton studio by dye expert Katelin Karbonik with 100% natural dyes.

Cutch: The nutty brown is dyed using cutch, an extract prepared from steeping the wood of the Acacia catechu tree.

Weld: The earthy green colour is dyed with weld/dyer’s broom using an iron modifier. That means that weld would normally create a yellow colour but Katelin has made it green using iron. Weld is a flowering plant species that can be found in North America as a common weed.

Lac: The burgundy is dyed with lac, which is an insect! It invades host trees and the insect secretes a resin that contains the red dye.
