Good Morning Weavers,
If you walk into our studio the first thing that you’ll notice is our collection of large 4 and 8 shaft floor looms. They are impressive in scale and capability but there are a few things that they are lacking: portability, speed to set up, simplicity.
In come rigid heddle looms! Rigid heddle looms are famous for plain weave, but there are plenty of ways to change up the structure, texture, and aesthetic of your weaving using this style of loom.
Previously, we have had a relatively small offering in terms of rigid heddle weaving supplies. We are actively working to change that, starting with our new supplier, Ashford! Our Ashford products will be shipping within Canada only but we are also building tool bundles and kits for our friends abroad.
If you’re a rigid heddle weaver or thinking about becoming one, what are you most excited to make? Hit reply and let us know!

NEW from Ashford

We’re thrilled to now carry Ashford’s full range of rigid heddle looms for the first time ever. This is long overdue… Ashford has long been known for their rigid heddle looms, sought after for their beginner friendly design and high quality craftsmanship.
Some things we particularly like about Ashford’s looms:
• Ashford brakes are easy to release and let you do more precise tension adjustment than other models. They are easy on the hands!
• There is lots of choice. Many models to choose from to fit your specific weaving needs and project goals.
Standard Rigid Heddle Loom: A timeless choice for a reason. Available in multiple widths this loom is sturdy, reliable, and perfect for a wide variety of projects - from scarves to full length fabric panels.
SampleIt Loom: Compact and approachable, the SampleIt is ideal for new weavers, quick experiments, and travel sized projects. It’s light, easy to use, and a great way to dip your toes into rigid heddle weaving.
Knitters Loom: Designed with portablity in mind, the Knitters Loom folds in half (even when warped) and comes with a carry bag. It’s perfect for workshops, small spaces, and weaving on the go.
And don’t forget the accessories! We’ve stocked a full range of Ashford rigid heddle tools - from second heddle kits and warping pegs to pick-up sticks, reeds, threading hooks, and more. Whether you’re setting up for the first time or upgrading your loom, you’ll find everything you need.
Rigid Heddle Patterns & Kits

We’ve compiled all of our patterns that can be woven on a rigid heddle loom into a collection and are already underway making some more (hint: they might even launch with a new Alpaca weaving yarn line we are developing). Oh shoot… I was supposed to save that tidbit for a future newsletter 😜
Where Can My Rigid Heddle Loom Take Me?

But if you’ve already made a drawer full of dish towels or given scarves to everyone in your family, you may be curious about what you can do with your rigid heddle loom beyond straightforward plain weave. You’re in luck! There are plenty of ways to change up the structure, texture, and aesthetic of your weaving with your rigid heddle loom.
