There has been a lot of action in the studio lately-almost none of which I have been organized enough to document well. Thank goodness for Bri, our photographer, who captured some moments during our last Sunday workshop.
Angela (Gather co-founder and sewist extraordinaire) was back in the studio teaching a pillow weaving workshop. These turned out great and feel like spring!
Hilda finished her beautiful rug after trying several different design iterations. She even unwove a big section to get it just right. Clearly, it was worth it. I love all the warm tones in this one and that middle section really pops! All of these pillows and the rug were woven with Northern Range Wool.
It was exciting to host our first ever Finger Weaving workshop with Krista Leddy! Finger weaving is new to me and as I buzzed around the studio helping with this and that I overheard some really beautiful metaphors about reciprocity. There is so much knowledge held within textile practices. One of the many reasons I love weaving so much! A big thanks to Krista for hosting this workshop <3
Some of the Parkland Blanket Wool projects that were started in the winter have been finished and are now off the loom and in use. Mila made the baby blanket (colorful stripes) with the tail end of one of our workshop warps. I think the naturally dyed colours look great side by side in this simple and classic stripe design.
One of our favorite local gents made this Parkland Blanket Wool blanket (grey with thin stripes). We love the rustic charm it has and the blanket stitched edge.
