About this Workshop:

Wrap up your favourite baby in this sweet and cheerful blanket, designed by Daughter Handwovens. In this workshop we will be weaving a blanket using the softest yarns. This project uses textured slub cotton and lustrous bamboo blend to create a blanket that is soft, touchable, and (importantly!) machine washable. You don't need any experience weaving to make this blanket.

Also makes a great lap blanket for keeping warm while working at home or crafting in front of the tv.

Finished Dimensions: 30" by 30"-50" long

We will be covering the following topics and techniques:

  • An introduction to weaving on a floor loom
  • How to weave with cotton
  • Tips and tricks for nice edges (selvedges)
  • The impact of structure (plain weave and twill) on colour interactions
  • How to finish your edges
  • Basic twill structures (straight, point, broken)
  • Simple design alterations
