Ripples Rigid Heddle Scarf PDF Pattern
Designed by Jamie Hurlburt
Wrapping yourself up in a cozy scarf on a chilly day is such a simple but powerful pick-me up. Especially when that scarf is handwoven, with beautiful depth of colour and touchable, lacey texture spreading across it like ripples on a pond. The warp is strong, smooth organic cotton, while the weft is a lofty, fuzzy wool blend made from upcycled fibres that would otherwise be mill waste. This project is eco-friendly, fun to weave, and wonderful to wear.
This scarf is designed for rigid heddle weavers and uses a pick-up stick to create texture. If you’ve already tried a few rigid heddle projects and are looking for your ‘next step’, this is the perfect project! The pattern includes instructions for weaving an 18” wide scarf on a 20” loom, and also includes modified instructions for making a thinner scarf on a 15” loom.
This pattern creates one 18" x 75" scarf (13.5” x 75” following modified instructions for a smaller loom).

To use this pattern you will need access to a rigid heddle loom either 15” or 20” wide, with a 10 dent heddle. You will also need two stick shuttles, or one stick shuttle and one pick up stick.
