Doubleweave: February 27-March 1

About this Workshop: 

In this workshop participants will learn the ins and outs of doubleweave. We will be weaving a round robin of 5 samples on looms set up for you in advance. We will be using both 4 and 8 shaft looms.  

During the workshop, participants will create 5 samples to take home. 

1. Double-width doubleweave mini blanket

2. Mini-pillow

3. Layer switching tube sampler

4. Double sided grid pattern (mini sunroom throw blanket- 8 shaft)

5. Deflected doubleweave on 4 shafts sampler

We will be covering the following techniques:

• How to choose fibers for warp and weft 

• The basics of how to read a doubleweave draft (pattern)

• How to weave several different styles of doubleweave 

• Tips and tricks to weave well 

• How to fix common problems 

• How to complete your project when the cloth is off the loom

Included in your workshop:

• Detailed handout with workshop information including all the pattern information from the samplers woven in the workshop

• All sampler materials including cotton, linen, ravine (merino-alpaca)

• 3 brand new Gather patterns to take home and weave from

Experience:

Weavers must have taken a Weaving 1 course before taking this workshop.
